Lots 847, 844 and 841
Lot 841 is an eye-catching American, 9ct gold hunting cased pocket watch (Waltham Watch Co.), the case combines rose gold with yellow, white and green gold to highlight decorative scenes on both sides, the cover with a vacant cartouche and the reverse set with an old-cut diamond, and has a pre-auction estimate of R12 000 - R16 000.
On offer are various 18ct gold pocket watches including: lot 842 a Tavanne's gold cased open-faced pocket watch (R 8 000 - 12 000); lot 843 a gold cased open-faced pocket watch (probably Henry Deacon, London, 1872) the plain case flat-chased with a floral motif with the dial signed “Manoah Rhodes & Son, Bradford” (R15 000 - R20 000) and lot 844 a J. W. Benson gold hunting cased pocket watch, London 1899 (R18 000 - R20 000).
Another noteworthy lot is an 18ct gold contemporary Omega pocket watch, with an open work nuggetform strap for hanging over a pocket to display, and has an auction estimate of R10 000 - R15 000 (lot 847).
