The name Esias Bosch (1923-2010) is synonymous with the highest standards in South African studio pottery and ceramics. With a career which spanned 60 years, from 1950 until his death in April 2012, Bosch produced works of mastery firing, form and decoration spanning mediums from earthenware, stoneware and porcelain. In 1988 Bosch began producing magnificent large ceramic wall tiles or panels. On these he expressed his love of decorating on a flat surface and satisfied his curiosity about the limits to which ceramics lends itself.
These panels seldom come up for auction and for this reason the ‘Koi’ panel with its majestic subject matter and richness of colour is expected to attract much interest.
