AN INDONESIAN HARDWOOD, EBONISED AND BRASS-BOUND CHEST-ON-STAND, 17TH CENTURY
This rare piece of furniture has previously on loan as part of the Vergelegen Collection on the Vergelegen Wine Estate since the early 1990s. A similar example is found in Groote Schuur, Great Granary to Stately Homes (1996) by Phillida Brooke Simons and Alain Proust , Fernwood Press on pages 67 and 69.
